İzmir Atatürk High School, which is the second of Izmir's oldest schools, was established in 1888 in the building where the old Izmir Courthouse, which is the Konak District Governor, is located today. The first principal of the school, which started education with 120 students as a 5-year high school, is Abdurrahman Efendi, a teacher of history and geography.

Today's building was a 3-storey stone building without plaster when it was first used as a school. Today 110 teachers work and 1489 students get education in the school. İAL Museum”, which was restored within the school; The historical documents belonging to the high school and the educational objects from the 1900s attract a lot of attention during the visits made by the schools. 

Izmir Atatürk High School has been taking boarding students since its establishment

and has been embracing the students in the surrounding districts for 132 years. In 2015, a student dormitory with a capacity of 150, built by our graduate in our campus, has been serving students for 5 years. The 80-student girls' pension, built by another philanthropist next to the men's pension, was put into service in 2018.With the completion of these modern dormitories, students increased their preference to İzmir Atatürk High School.
